Celebrate the variety: Munich's Marienplatz shines at the CSD!

München, Deutschland - On June 26, 2025, Munich shines all about diversity and inclusion at this year's Christopher Street Day (CSD). Numerous urban presentations and own businesses show on Marienplatz that they are strong for the rights of the LGBTIQ*community. The city administration uses this opportunity to educate the importance of diversity and equal opportunities and do good business with hands -on activities and advisory services.

Visitors can look forward to a colorful status of the personnel and organizational department, where the coordination office for equality between LGBTIQ* and the Queer Net LHM network are represented. There are prices in rainbow colors on the wheel of fortune and interested people can ask questions about career paths in the city administration. The district administration department is also present and offers information through teams from diversity, equal opportunities officer and the municipal field service.

diversity in focus

The CSD is not only a celebration, but also a platform for clarification. The health department in particular has interesting information ready: An information stand for STI advice is offered in which low-threshold conversations on sexual health are possible, in particular on topics such as HIV and sexually transmitted infections. In addition, an anonymous and free test offer is advertised.

A special highlight this year is the Munich city library, which is represented for the first time with its golden book bus on Frauenplatz. Here they show diversity -sensitive books and offer mobile learning offers that encourage encounters. As part of Europe Direct Munich, hands -on activities and discussions about the EU and Europe are also planned.

Current research and challenges

In addition to the CSD, various research projects deal with the situation of LGBTIQ*people in public administration. For example, it is examined which institutional framework influences the discrimination experiences of LGBTIQ*employees. This research is important to develop targeted intervention options that can help those affected and ensure more equality. Frankfurter University emphasizes that it is crucial to analyze and tackle the discrimination experiences.

The results of the study "Out in the Office?!" Also show that queer employees are often confronted with prejudices and discrimination. Over 1,500 LSBTIQA*assistant were interviewed between May and August 2023 in order to obtain a comprehensive picture of their work situation. Diversity institute has published this survey, which takes place every three years and offers valuable insights into the experiences of queer people in the work environment.

Overall, the CSD in Munich not only becomes a celebration of diversity, but also an important turning point for discussions about equality and against discrimination. The city shows that the path to more acceptance and diversity is not just a goal, but a constant process that affects everyone.
