S-Bahn chaos: construction work on the main line brings changes!

There will be significant changes on the S-Bahn lines in Munich next weekend. How Radio gong reported, construction work for the second main line of the S-Bahn is planned from November 14, 2025, 10:20 p.m. to November 17, 2025, 4:30 a.m. These measures require track closures and affect several lines.

The affected S-Bahn lines and their adjustments are as follows:

Teilweise verkürzte Fahrten starten/enden bereits in Moosach.

Replacement transport and information for travelers

Replacement bus services will be provided for the affected lines. Travelers should prepare to allow extra time for their journeys, especially at night and on weekends. The Munich S-Bahn also recommends using the subway and trams if possible. Current real-time data can be found in the MVG/MVV app so that passengers do not have to feel in the dark.

This extensive construction work is part of the project for the second main line of the S-Bahn, which has been underway since 2017. This new tunnel project under the city center is intended to improve the connection between the state capital of Munich and the surrounding communities. The Website munchen.de highlights that the Munich S-Bahn, which has been providing improved connections since 1972, aims to speed up connections and relieve the existing network.

The second main route is intended to reduce the susceptibility to failure of the first main route and therefore requires action for all those who regularly rely on the S-Bahn. So be prepared if you're out and about this weekend!
