A very special evening in Basel: On Friday the Amstutz Manufaktur AG from Rothenburg LU was named “Distillery of the Year 2025”. In the festive atmosphere of the market hall, surrounded by around 150 guests, the coveted title was awarded to a single company for the first time this year. DistiSuisse 2025 once again underlines the outstanding quality of Swiss distilleries.
What made the Amstutz Manufactory so special? The distillery won five gold medals in various categories as well as two category wins in the areas of liqueur and vegetable and potato brandy. It achieved the highest average result of all gold products and thus secured the winning place. In total, DistiSuisse honored the best spirits from Switzerland in 20 categories, including fruit and grain brandies, whiskey and vodka.
Nominees and other winners
The Amstutz Manufactory was not alone in the race for the title. Well-known companies like this were also on the shortlist Distillery de Saconnex-d'Arve from Plan-les-Ouates, Etter Söhne AG from Zug, Gunzwiler Distillate Urs Hecht AG and Humbel Spezialitätenbrennerei AG from Stetten, as well as Z’GRAGGEN Distillerie AG from Lauerz. This nomination is considered an extraordinary achievement that impressively reflects the diversity and quality of Swiss distilling art.
DistiSuisse has already honored numerous important distilleries in the past, and this year the competition was also strong. The category winners are proof of the innovative strength and craftsmanship of the participating distillers. The best products were identified in the individual categories and the joy of the successes was palpable among the companies.
