Michael Jung triumphs in the Bavarian Grand Prix in Munich Riem!
There is great enthusiasm in Munich-Riem because the renowned “Horse International” tournament has got off to a brilliant start. The first day of the four-day event was all about Michael Jung, who once again demonstrated his extraordinary talent. The two-time Olympic champion and multiple world and European champion was able to win the Bavarian Grand Prix, supported by the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Tourism, and with remarkable superiority.
In an exciting final round in which 48 starters took part in the CSI3* jumping, Jung showed an impressive performance on the Dutch gelding fischerDuoPower: he made no mistakes and was the fastest in the jump-off with a time of 54.37 seconds. The gap to second-placed Anna Dryden from the USA with her Belgian gelding Night van de Kwakkelhoek was two seconds (0/56.51 seconds). Sören Pedersen from Denmark secured third place with Tailormade Casallorette (0/56.89 seconds) bayernspferde.de reports, that only six of the 48 riders got through the course without any mistakes and thus qualified for the jump-off.
More than just a big prize
Olaf Herrmann from Hückelhoven was responsible as the course manager and set up a demanding route that was equally challenging for the audience and the participants. Jung, who had won another competition with the same horse just two days earlier, proved once again that his feel for the right moment and perfect technique is unsurpassed. A success that clearly gave him joy and made him the star of the evening.
But the Bavarian riders were also impressive. Michael Eichler from the Reiter-Akademie München took tenth place with Clooney, while Emile Baurand and Hans Günther Blum landed in eleventh and twelfth place. The successes testify to the strong competitiveness of the local riders in a national comparison.
Focus on young talent
The tournament also offered numerous opportunities for young horses, such as the CSIYH* two-phase test for seven-year-old horses. Here Maximilian Lill from Lastrup triumphed with his horse Nabadu and demonstrated a good hand for the young talents. Maximilian Ziegler from Augsburg came second with Candy Song, followed by Hans Günther Blum, who took sixth place with Caja.
The Logis Amateur Tour also brought impressive results: In the Small Tour, Victoria Katharina Kempen won with Despacito. In the Medium Tour, Leticia Hirmer demonstrated her skills with Teck de Riverland and won first place. At the Large Tour, Jolie Marie Kühner triumphed with Quebec and prevailed against strong competition.
The event in Munich-Riem promises further exciting competitions in the coming days, and the anticipation for the next tests is already noticeable. The riders' progress and successes will certainly be reported on in the next issues of our magazine - stay tuned! You can read more about the big prize at pferd-aktuell.de.
