Tamina and Tobias rock Europe: 26th place at the European Championships in Budapest!

What's going on in the rock 'n' roll world? On June 24, 2025, the European Rock'n'Roll Championships took place in Budapest, and the dancing couple Tamina Berchtold and Tobias Thiele represented Germany with flying colors. They were one of only three German couples to compete in a strenuous competition. In this international B class, the two dancers from RRC Peiting showed their skills and achieved remarkable results.

A total of 36 dance couples from all over the world took part in the European Championships. After a first preliminary round, they showed that they had a lot of potential with 57.8 points and took 28th place. But the repechage round gave them a boost: with 63.01 points they were enough for 26th place. This meant they missed the quarter-finals by just two places - a very close call! Ahead of them, the couple from Lippstadt finished in 20th place, while another couple from Forstenried finished in 33rd place.

Background information and training of the squad members

The RRC Peiting and dance sports have become an integral part of the Bavarian sports landscape. The commitment of clubs like the RRC is huge. According to brbv-online.de, in the first half of 2025 you can once again see five couples from three different clubs who have been nominated for the state squad. In addition to Berchtold and Thiele, these include Johanna and Franz Rothballer as well as Franziska Schmidt and Jan Wimmer, to name just a few.

The development of rock'n'roll transport is supported not only by the sporting achievements of the couples, but also by the work of the German Rock'n'Roll and Boogie-Woogie Association (DRBV). This umbrella organization for dance sports promotes both popular and competitive sports and ensures that rock'n'roll remains popular in training and competitions. With almost 350 member clubs and over 23,000 members, the DRBV offers a broad basis for talented dancers.

Over 2,100 competition dance couples from different age groups and numerous trainers ensure that the enthusiasm on the dance floor never wanes. This year more than 150 tournaments will be held, which impressively underlines the high dynamism and interest in rock'n'roll dance sport. The association is even a member of the World Rock'n'Roll Confederation (WRRC), which makes it the national association with the largest number of members in the world, as described on tanzsport.de.

Conclusion and outlook

Tamina Berchtold and Tobias Thiele not only demonstrated their skills in competition, but also gave a wonderful insight into the hard work and preparations of the rock'n'roll scene. Despite missing the quarter-finals, they can be proud of their performance and the experience they gained at the European Championships. Your goal could serve as motivation to aim even higher in future tournaments!
