New Westpark Specialty Center: Medical care for Zeeland!

A lot is happening in Zeeland, Michigan: Holland Hospital and the University of Michigan Health have teamed up to open a new chapter in medical care. On October 22, 2023, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for the Westpark Specialty Center, which is planned with a budget of a whopping $45 million. This ambitious project spans 63,000 square feet and will be the third facility on Holland Hospital's Westpark Campus. Holland Sentinel reports that the center is expected to open in 2027.

But what makes the Westpark Specialty Center so special? It is very clear: the facility will offer specialized medical services directly on site. This eliminates the hassle of traveling to Grand Rapids for many patients who previously had to travel for similar treatments. Holland Hospital CEO Patti Van Dort, who has her roots in Zeeland and a career at the hospital spanning almost 40 years, underlines the importance of this local care. Fox17 informs that the center has also carried out a comprehensive analysis of the needs of patients in the Holland/Zeeland region in order to tailor the services offered to the needs of community residents.

A variety of medical services

The new center will provide a wide range of medical services, including pediatric care, gynecology services, specialty infusion therapies, as well as advanced laboratory tests and radiology positions such as X-rays and MRI. In the spirit of holistic care, a specialized pharmacy will also be set up. According to Patti Van Dort, the goal is to provide the most commonly needed medical services as close to patients as possible.

Construction on the Westpark Specialty Center is scheduled to begin in early December and is targeted for completion in approximately 20 months. This will make the center a crucial point of contact for patients in the region who value quality healthcare.

A strong alliance

The collaboration between Holland Hospital and the University of Michigan Health is viewed as promising by both sides. David Miller, CEO of Michigan Medicine, emphasizes in reporting Holland Sentinel, how important this step is for the development of health care in West Michigan. The strategic alliance aims to not only provide patients with access to world-class specialists, but also to provide innovative medical services locally.

The opening of the Westpark Specialty Center in 2027 will be an important step towards needs-based medical care. Those responsible have shown a good hand with this project, and it seems as if the center will soon become an indispensable part of the community in Zeeland and the surrounding area.
