MVG makes New Year's Eve a driving pleasure: All information about the subway and bus!

The end of the year is just around the corner in Munich and preparations for New Year's Eve have already begun. The Munich Transport Company (MVG) has decided to adjust the operating times of the subway, buses and trams in order to offer revelers a comfortable and safe journey. The Saturday timetable applies on New Year's Day and the Sunday timetable applies on New Year's Day, which means that passengers can enjoy an expanded offer on both days. As the South Germans reported, the subway will remain in operation continuously on New Year's Eve and will increase its timetable until 2 a.m.

On New Year's Eve, the subway lines U1 to U6 run every 10 minutes until around 1 a.m., with one exception: the U6 runs between Fröttmaning and Garching Research Center every 20 minutes. From 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. the frequency is changed to 20 minutes, with the U2 between Milbertshofen and Kolumbusplatz also running every 20 minutes. The U5 remains at a 10-minute frequency until around 2 a.m. From 2 a.m. the U6 will be reduced to every 30 minutes on the Fröttmaning-Garching-forschungszentrum route.

Additional means of transport and diversions

Special arrangements have also been made for the night bus and night tram lines. These run every 30 minutes on New Year's Eve, with some lines even running every 15 minutes. In order to cope with the increased number of passengers, larger vehicles are sometimes used on the buses. The Evening newspaper highlights that the diversions and adjustments will also affect several other bus routes.

On December 31st, bus 100 will be redirected between Reitmorstraße/Schack Collection and Friedensengel from around 11 p.m. The Reitmorstraße stop will be moved to Oettingenstraße. Ludwigstrasse will be completely closed for the New Year's Eve mile, so bus lines 58 and 68 will be rerouted between Giselastraße and the Pinakotheks. Diversions are also necessary for the night routes N40, N41 and N45 from December 29th to January 2nd.

Information and information

It is important for travelers to follow the changes closely. The MVG informs all passengers about diversions and timetable changes through notices, ticker texts and announcements. Detailed information is also available on the MVG website and in the MVGO app. How Munich on the way reports, it is advisable to find out about it in good time so that you can celebrate the new year carefree.
