In the senior citizens' home at Kieferngarten in Freimann, there is a lack of regular visits for many residents. The warm atmosphere and togetherness are present, but the loneliness of many older people is a challenge that the facility would now like to address more closely. The senior citizens' home houses around 600 residents - 100 of them in inpatient care and 500 in assisted living. Despite the predominantly vigorous condition of the seniors, it is clear that direct support and contact are particularly necessary for some, such as 82-year-old Elke Weber. She needs help to go outside and participate in life outside the facility.
Volunteer support desired
Doris Langer, the volunteer coordinator at the Kieferngarten retirement home, is already welcoming interested parties who are willing to make a contribution. The volunteers can decide flexibly which tasks they would like to take on. This not only provides a lot of relief in everyday life, but also promotes social contacts for seniors. Help ranges from clean-up work to doctor visits to errands.

The most common activities include having conversations, playing board games, or just spending time together.
