RivaReno opens in Munich: Ice art from Florence at Gärtnerplatz!

What could be more refreshing than a really good ice cream on a warm summer day? On June 20, 2025, Munich will now also have the opportunity to be enchanted by the Italian tradition of gelato. RivaReno, a renowned Italian ice cream parlor, opens its first branch in Germany. Caroline Czwartek, the new owner, has been dreaming of bringing the original taste to Munich since her first visit to a RivaReno branch in Florence during a family vacation. The ice cream parlor is located on Klenzestraße, very close to Gärtnerplatz, a popular meeting point in the city.

If you take a closer look at RivaReno's philosophy, it quickly becomes clear that they don't just sell ice cream. The ice cream parlor is known for its particularly creamy gelato, which is made from high-quality, partly regional ingredients. It is prepared fresh daily according to classic Italian recipes, without artificial additives. The different varieties are called “Gusti” here and each costs 2.90 euros. A clear recommendation goes to the “Cremino Dark”, a dark chocolate ice cream that, together with hazelnut butter and pistachio sauce, offers a true taste experience.

An experience for the palate

But that's not all that RivaReno has to offer. In addition to the delicious ice cream flavors, guests can also enjoy a delicious breakfast and cake from the “Kuchentratsch” initiative. A very special highlight is the “Croigato”, a filled croissant that costs 5.50 euros. RivaReno not only stands for ice cream enjoyment, but also for a diverse culinary experience. Opening times are Tuesday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

For true ice cream lovers, gelato is more than just a sweet snack. It is considered to be more flavorful and creamier than German ice cream, as long as the quality is right. This differs primarily in the lower fat content of a maximum of 7% compared to German ice cream, which usually has a fat content of 10%. In addition, gelato traditionally does not contain eggs, which explains the creamy consistency and more intense taste. Gelato is ideally served at around -9 degrees Celsius - this way the full taste really comes into its own, as Feinschmecker explains.

A feast for the senses

Another culinary highlight in Munich is the impressive eleven-course menu served in the Broeding restaurant. This gastronomic journey is inspired by the first class menu of the Titanic. The event takes place in conjunction with the immersive exhibition “The Legend of the Titanic” in the Old Parcel Post Hall. Here, guests can enjoy a menu that includes classic dishes such as poached char and truffle liver pâté for 300 euros per person. A moving taste journey through time!

With the opening of RivaReno, Munich will have an exquisite ice cream parlor that will delight both locals and tourists. A visit is worthwhile not only for gelato lovers, but for all those who appreciate the Italian way of life and cuisine. Anyone who would like to immerse themselves in the Italian ice cream tradition now has the perfect opportunity to do so.

For all ice cream lovers and curious gourmets: we can only recommend taking a look at the new RivaReno branch! Further information about the opening can also be found in the video available on Merkur.
