Munich fulfills 4,300 wishes: wish tree campaign inspires citizens!
The Christmas season is just around the corner and with it the wonderful opportunity to bring joy to others. Around 4,300 wishes will be fulfilled as part of this year's Malteser wish tree campaign, which is taking place at 18 locations in Munich. Under the patronage of Munich's Mayor Dieter Reiter, an important campaign is being launched that aims to bring joy to the hearts of people in need and loneliness. “It is an important form of solidarity,” says Pilar Princess zu Salm, Maltese diocesan superior, who emphasizes the support of Munich citizens.
Viola Miltner, head of the Neuhausen City Library, emphasizes the importance of sharing and the good feeling of helping others. The campaign is also supported by prominent personalities such as Paul Breitner, the former professional footballer, who actively supports the needs of the less fortunate. This initiative, now in its fifth year, gives everyone the chance to get a small gift worth up to 25 euros and thus fulfill a wish. Who doesn't want to help?
How does the campaign work?
Citizens can collect the wishing stars from the wishing trees in the participating city libraries. The wishes are written on these stars and must then be handed in as gifts to the respective city libraries by December 9th at the latest. The wishing trees are available at a total of 19 locations, some of which are:
- Münchner Stadtbibliothek Bogenhausen: Rosenkavalierplatz 16
- Münchner Stadtbibliothek Giesing: Deisenhofener Straße 20
- Münchner Stadtbibliothek Neuhausen: Nymphenburger Straße 171b
- Münchner Stadtbibliothek Ramersdorf: Führichstraße 43
- Münchner Stadtbibliothek im Motorama: Rosenheimer Str. 30-32
The gifts must be marked with the corresponding wishing star. This year the drop-off at the Ramersdorf City Library will be closed on December 9th; The gifts should be delivered here by December 6th. So if you're still looking for gifts, you still have enough time to prove your good skills!
Further action days and support options
Anyone who would like to help beyond this also has the opportunity to take part in other campaigns, such as the Heimatstern Christmas package campaign. (Shoe) cards with small gifts can be handed in there until December 11th. Another wishing tree in Moosach accepts Christmas wishes until December 12th, while gifts are delivered there to the Pelkovenschlössl.
There is also the Johanniter Christmas trucker campaign, where packages of food, hygiene products and toys are needed until December 13th. This shows that the willingness to help is very popular in Munich and that there are many opportunities to do good.
Whatever the way to support looks, be it through the wish tree campaign or other fundraising projects, it is the opportunity to bring warmth and light into the lives of others during the cold season. Let's help together and set an example of charity!
