Penguins fight back: Exciting away win against Munich!
In a thrilling duel in the PENNY DEL, the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven defeated EHC Red Bull Munich 4-3 on September 14, 2025. The second win of the season for the Pinguins is all the more impressive because they found their way back into the game after a 0-2 deficit Fischtown Pinguins.
The game began with Munich's aggressive forechecking, which put the Pinguins under pressure early on. The Red Bulls had a great chance to take the lead in the 5th minute, but Fontaine was denied by goalkeeper Gudlevskis. The Pinguins couldn't hold back for long: In the 13th minute, Munich made it 1-0 through Fontaine after an assist from Rieder. A little later, in the 15th minute, the Penguins were unlucky on the power play and only hit the post.
Furious comeback by the Penguins
The second third began unpromisingly for Bremerhaven, as Hirose increased Munich's lead to 2-0 in the power play in the 28th minute. But the Penguins didn't give up. Just a minute later, Max Görtz made it 2-1 with a beautifully played goal. Despite further chances, the Penguins were unable to equalize in the second period.
It would take until the 42nd minute for the tide to turn. An own goal from Munich when Niederberger left the box brought the Pinguins back into the game – 2:2! Another shock for the Munich team: With strong defensive play, the Bremerhaven team kept the Munich team in check in the final third.
Key players and standout moments
In the 49th minute, Urbas even gave Bremerhaven the lead (3:2). Despite a double power play in the 51st minute for Munich, in which Gudlevskis once again excelled, the Pinguins defense remained steadfast. The chances for Munich remained unused, while Bennett Roßmy made it 4-2 in the power play in the 55th minute. In the final minute, Brooks was able to reduce the score to 3:4, but the away win could no longer be taken away from the Pinguins Kicker.
Coach Alex Sulzer was able to rely on the tried and tested line-up that was already on the ice in the last game against Schwenningen. Despite the absence of injured players such as Rayan Bettahr, Will Riedell and Phillip Bruggisser, the strong team performance was rewarded.
