Young people shape culture: dance and pottery in Landshut!
Something is happening in Landshut! A group of motivated young people got together to build a stage in abandoned walls. This creative act is part of a larger event that will take place in the Old Barracks, where people can dance all night long. The Old Barracks, once a non-commissioned officer's home in the Schoch Barracks, has been the vibrant center for young culture and creativity in Landshut since it opened in 2001. It houses a large hall and various practice rooms and offers space for extraordinary events that are attended by around 40,000 visitors every year. Landshut.de calls the Old Kaserne a youth culture center and emphasizes that it serves as a platform for young people to live out their talents and ideas.
Another highlight for the young people is designing posters in the court syndicate in Angersdorf, where creativity and teamwork are very important. At the same time, they can demonstrate their craftsmanship by making pottery in the ceramics school. This variety of activities helps young people independently develop their perspectives and express their creativity. “Culture supports young people in developing their own perspectives,” is the tenor of the organizers. Idowa reports on these exciting activities and highlights the importance of cultural participation.
Art and environmental education combined
In addition to the activities already mentioned, there is an exciting connection between art and environmental education as part of the KunstWerkZukunft participatory campaign. In Bavaria, several environmental education institutions have joined forces to initiate over 30 projects that focus on sustainability and cultural education. The initiators want to encourage young people to think about the question “How do we live?” think and express their ideas creatively. Tanja Praske emphasizes the importance of these projects, which not only promote artistic expression, but also raise awareness of sustainable action.
The works of art created as part of KunstWerkZukunft are intended to help provide an emotional approach to the topic of sustainability and emphasize the perspectives of young people. International and local artists and institutions are also invited to exhibit or perform their work. This creates a lively platform for the exchange of ideas and promotes dialogue about important social issues.
With its initiatives, Landshut clearly shows that youth not only belong to the future, but can actively shape this future. Whether on stage in the Old Barracks or in creative projects in the city – young people can raise their voices here and enrich cultural life. Those responsible can be proud of what they have achieved, and we can look forward to seeing what creative ideas will sprout in the future!
