Murder plot in Odelzhausen: daughter and lover in court!

A process that is currently moving people's minds is currently being heard in the Munich II Regional Court. A 58-year-old from Odelzhausen, Dachau district, is suspected of having commissioned a murder plot against her own husband. The trial began today at 9:30 a.m. and the excitement is already palpable because the defendant's daughter and her partner are also involved in this dark case. Apparently her wealthy husband's wealth was a decisive incentive for the mother, which is what the public prosecutor's office, which is prosecuting in this case, suspects.

The wife is said to have gotten into financial difficulties after using up 1.2 million euros from a lottery win. A planned murder seemed to her the only way out of getting her husband's money. So she came up with a plan that staged a suspected contract killer from Bulgaria who was to be hired for 50,000 euros. The idea was to attack the man while he was stargazing in the garden, where he was seriously injured.

Those involved and their silence

The defendant remains silent in the courtroom, and her daughter and her partner do not comment on the charges or the matter. It is unclear how much the various people involved actually knew about the murder order. A psychiatric expert reported that the daughter's partner stated that he drove to the crime scene under pressure. Despite the serious allegations, the victim, the husband, was not completely silenced; he is also expected to testify.

The brutal incident, which attracted attention early on, happened on the husband's terrace. He survived a surprise attack with an ax thanks to his fighting spirit, but has scars on his face that will serve as a reminder of the horrific experience. The trial raises questions not only about individual injustice, but also about the financial desperation that can drive people to such drastic measures.

Crime in Germany at a glance

At first glance, one might think that crime development in Germany is saturated, but current statistics show a decline of 1.7% in 2024. However, murder itself remains a difficult task to think about, as it only accounts for 0.1% of registered criminal cases. In contrast, theft and fraud are still on the agenda. In 2024, 285 murder victims were registered, 14 fewer than in the previous year.

The role of the perpetrators, especially in such horrific crimes, should not be underestimated. Around 82% of those convicted are men, while the number of young suspects under the age of 21 is decreasing. At the same time, there is an increase in non-German suspects to 41.8%. Such statistics provide deeper insight into the issues behind the headlines.

The trial continues next Tuesday; the verdict is expected on July 1st. How this case ends can be seen not only in the verdicts, but also in the light of the social challenges that we have to face. It remains to be seen whether the lack of financial stability will take revenge through another crime.
