Sisu: Road to Revenge – The thrilling trailer for the sequel is here!
The action film “Sisu”, which was released in cinemas in 2022, was only able to attract 40,000 visitors in Germany and grossed around 14 million dollars worldwide, which is disappointing given a budget of six million euros. However, a sequel titled “Sisu: Road To Revenge” was announced. The first trailer for the sequel has already been released, like Film releases reported.
Director Jalmari Helander, who also wrote the script, will once again take the reins. In the lead role, the talented Jorma Tommila once again takes on the role of Aatami Korpi, a gold prospector and killer who has to assert himself in a brutal world. The sequel promises to continue the story of Aatami, who, after his fight against the Nazis in the first part, returns to the house where his family was murdered during the war.
A new threat
Aatami plans to dismantle the house in question and rebuild it in a safer location, but the Red Army commander, played by Stephen Lang, is hot on his trail. Lang won't be the only new addition to the cast - Richard Brake will also be part of the ensemble.
Interestingly, the budget for the sequel was increased to over 11 million euros, suggesting that... Wikipedia is interested in a larger spectacle. Filming is no longer taking place in beautiful Lapland, but in Estonia, which offers new possibilities for the film's visual style.
Cinema experience and view
The film's premiere will take place at Fantastic Fest in September 2025, while the official theatrical release in Finland is already scheduled for October 22, 2025. In Germany, fans can look forward to experiencing “Sisu: Road To Revenge” on the big screen on November 20, 2025. In the USA, the film will be distributed by Screen Gems and will be released on November 21, 2025.
Interestingly, Helander already expressed in March 2023 that he was interested in a sequel, provided the first part did well in the US. In fact, the Finna Film Foundation showed a good hand and increased its financial support from 50,000 to 1 million euros to bring the project to life.
The return of Jorma Tommila in the role of Aatami as well as the exciting plot make the sequel a film that is worth watching. More information and statistics about the market can be found at SPY.
