Thomas Müller is returning to Bavaria for Christmas!

There is exciting news for all football fans in Munich: Thomas Müller (36) is about to return to Germany. The former FC Bayern Munich star has lived in Vancouver, Canada, since August 2023, where he plays for the Vancouver Whitecaps. Nevertheless, he has not forgotten where his roots lie and plans to come to Bavaria during the winter break to spend time with family and friends. He is particularly looking forward to the Christmas season and German cuisine, in particularSchupfnudeln with sauerkraut, which bring him very special feelings of home, like this Evening newspaper reported.

Müller's path to Vancouver was anything but ordinary. Before he moved there, he lived on a stud farm in Otterfing near Munich and had an apartment in the Gärtnerplatzviertel. His decision to take on the challenge of Major League Soccer caused quite a stir, especially since his wife Lisa Müller did not move to Vancouver with him. This has of course sparked rumors about the state of their marriage, but these remain unfounded as Müller remains a loyal supporter of his wife and her career as a dressage rider.

Career and achievements

His time at FC Bayern Munich was marked by a multitude of records and titles. In 756 competitive games he scored 250 goals and provided 238 assists. Müller won impressively33 titles, including13 Bundesliga championshipsand twoChampions League-Victory like that Vancouver Whitecaps have announced. He is considered one of the most successful players in German football and has also impressed at international level. With 131 appearances and 45 goals for the German national team, he is a key figure in the history of German football.

This season, Müller is under contract with FC Vancouver Whitecaps until the end of the 2025 season, with an option for 2026. Despite all the changes, contact with the club he loves, FC Bayern, remains important for Müller. He describes the team as“the hottest team in Europe”and follows their games closely.

A life in Vancouver

Although Müller has taken on a new challenge in Vancouver, it has not gone unnoticed by him that the change also brings its challenges. In an interview he admitted that he sometimes...lonelinessfeels, which is no wonder in a new environment. He is expected in Vancouver next Wednesday, where a press conference and his first training session are already planned for Thursday. The Whitecaps currently lead the MLS Western Conference in points per game, which is a great start for Müller in his new career.

Finally, it should be noted that Müller remains a real Munich kid, even if he plays away from home. The anticipation of returning to his home country is great, and the seasonal break will certainly do him good to celebrate his connection to his roots.
