Creative departure: Super Books 6 in Munich inspires art lovers!

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, the House of Art in Munich again opens its goals for the creative scene. The Super Books 6 is the sixth edition of the independent trade fair, which is entirely dedicated to the artists' books. From 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., around 70 national and international artists, designers, publishers and institutions will present their latest productions.

What makes the Super Books so special? The focus is on publications that think beyond the conventional medium of book. A central topic is the ethics of accessibility in pricing and in direct sales. The event offers a great opportunity to get to know alternative publisher, which act as a counterweight to the conventional publishing market.

The Super Books is organized in cooperation with several renowned institutions, including the AAP archive of artists' publications , the Bavarian State Library, the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and the Kassel University of Applied Sciences. The event is curated by Sabine Brantl, Hubert Kretschmer and Lilian Landes, who ensure that the fair will be a complete success.

Review of the past event

Already from November 2 to 3, 2024, the Munich art scene experienced the Super Books 5 . Almost 70 artists, designers and alternative publishers took part in this fifth edition. The multitude of events and participants attracted many visitors and highlighted the ethical demands of the publications in an extensive framework.

The past year impressively demonstrated how important such events are for networking in the art scene. With the live broadcast of the non-commercial Munich radio station Radio 80000, the opportunity was used to make the content accessible to a larger audience.

The development of Super Books Since its foundation in 2019 as part of the exhibition "Archives in Residence: AAP Archive Archive Publications" towards an important forum for the independent Kunstverlagslandschaft, everyone involved could be experienced up close.
