It connects Garching Research Center with the Großhadern Clinic and has historical roots that go back to the years between 1938 and 1941 when the Lindwurmunnel between Sendlinger Tor and Goetheplatz train station was built. This route was revolutionary for the city and remains an important traffic artery to this day. The Goetheplatz train station is even longer than the usual 120 meter platform length.
