Designment of the U6 in Munich: Disruptions awaited until Friday!

Harras, München, Deutschland - The Munich companies are currently patient test: on the popular subway line u6 there are massive disorders. The reason for this is a derailed subway at the Harras stop, which was affected on June 12th at 3:15 p.m. while shunting. Since then, the stop has been closed to the company by Friday evening, 11 p.m. and the tracks and the power rail have suffered greater damage due to the event. Fortunately, the train was occupied without passengers, the driver was not injured. However, the exact cause of the incident remains unclear.

In view of these disorders,

users of the subway have to accept some detours. The U6 line only drives towards Garching Research Center between Großhadern Clinic and Partnachplatz. Conversely, the same applies: the direction of Großhadern Clinic can only be reached to Implerstrasse, after which is diverted to Fürstenried West. A rail replacement (SEV) with buses commutes between Implerstraße and Partnachplatz. There are also alternative connections for the travelers: from Brudermühlstraße, the Bus X30 can be used to Harras and Bus 54 via Harras to the Partnachplatz.

the U6 at a glance

The U6 is the oldest line in the Munich subway network and extends over 27.416 km with a total of 26 train stations. It connects Garching Research Center with the Großhadern Clinic and has historical roots that go back to the years between 1938 and 1941 when the Lindwurmunnel between Sendlinger Tor and Goetheplatz train station was built. This route was revolutionary for the city and remains an important traffic artery to this day. The Goetheplatz train station is even longer than the usual 120 meter platform length.

Without a doubt, the U6 also has interesting stations to offer. The simple depth of the research center is reminiscent of Munich researchers, while the Garching train station, which is 17 meters underground, has two tube platforms. The section between Garching and Fröttmaning is the longest between two train stations at 4.1 km.

further impairments

In addition, the U6 is not the only line that currently suffers from regulations. On June 12, there were several reports of other disorders in public transport, including delays on the U3 due to vehicle disorders and irregularities on bus lines such as 53 and 160.

The MVG has the situation in view and works intensively to minimize the impairments for passengers. The passengers are asked to regularly find out about the current situation and to plan them according to their needs. Despite the difficulties, the U6, which could experience a planned extension to Martinsried until around 2026, remains a valuable link in the Munich transport network.

For current reports and information, the passengers can be the pages of the mvg and the tz to always stay up to date and find the best way through the city.
