Munich is calling: More Green” competition starts – register now!
Munich would do well to think green! The “More Green for Munich” competition is entering the next round and has a clear goal: to create incentives to make urban spaces livable through greening. Those interested can register until June 30, 2026. But how does that actually work?
Registration for the competition is easy and can be done via email gruenung-foerdern.rku@muenchen.de or in writing to the Department for Climate and Environmental Protection at Bayerstraße 28a, 80335 Munich. If you would like to download a PDF registration form, please go to www.muenchen.de/vergleich-mehr-gruen found it. If you have any questions, you can contact the team on 01525-7985466.
Participation and scoring
Homeowners, tenants and owners of commercial businesses are allowed to take part. Both impressively designed and smaller but fine greening projects are evaluated. These include everything from blooming house facades to creative playgrounds to magnificent shrubs and flower beds. The following are particularly valued: an attractive design, the careful handling of existing trees and the comprehensive unsealing of areas. These measures not only benefit the green spaces, but also contribute to improving the microclimate and increasing the quality of life, as shown landschaftsbau.net is to be read.
With this competition, the city of Munich encourages all citizens to improve their own living environment. Ultimately, urban greening has many benefits in common: it improves air quality, reduces heat islands and promotes biodiversity. More and more Munich residents are recognizing how important it is to create small green oases in the urban landscape.
Funding programs and grants
Another incentive is the “Inner courtyard, roof and facade greening” funding program. Under certain conditions, property owners can claim financial subsidies for greening projects. This includes greening front gardens, courtyards and roofs as well as unsealing areas. On the website www.muenchen.de/begruenung-foerdern There is comprehensive information and applications available.
Promoting such initiatives is promising because they are not only ecologically sensible but also aesthetically pleasing. A green city not only brings more joy in life, but also strengthens the sense of community. In cities like Munich, where space is often at a premium, creative and sustainable solutions are more in demand than ever.
It will be exciting to see how many Munich residents will take part in the competition and implement their green visions. Who knows, maybe a new green oasis will emerge in the neighborhood that will delight young and old alike! Take advantage of the opportunity and actively contribute to greening the city!
