S-Bahn chaos today: diversions and cancellations until 10:10 p.m.!
In Munich today, October 31, 2025, there are some important changes to S-Bahn traffic that will affect commuters and travelers. From 5:00 a.m. to 10:10 p.m., the S-Bahn lines S1 and S2 are rerouted, which means a certain change for many passengers. Loud ED Live The S1 will only run between Freising/Airport and the main train station and will not offer any stops between Moosach and the main train station.
The S2 is also affected: It is being rerouted and runs from Riem via the Ostbahnhof (track 7-13, long-distance train) to Obermenzing. The main route is not served, so there are no stops at Leuchtenbergring and Berg am Laim. However, the S2 runs on the regular route between Obermenzing, Ostbahnhof and Riem with all planned stops.
Alternative connections
There are some alternatives for travelers commuting between the stops mentioned. The lines S4, S6 and S8 are in use between Ostbahnhof and Leuchtenbergring as well as Ostbahnhof and Berg am Laim. Furthermore, passengers can travel between Dachau train station and Altomünster every 60 minutes. Replacement traffic has been set up for this section, the vehicles of which are clearly marked “replacement traffic”.
The diversions are necessary due to repairs to a switch that the Munich S-Bahn has not yet been able to bypass. There will therefore be canceled connections for the affected trains on line S2, which run every 10 minutes. Further information on current developments in S-Bahn traffic is available on the special page of the Munich S-Bahn.
