Next Saturday, football fans can expect an exciting duel in the Allianz Arena: FC Bayern Munich will host newly promoted Hamburger SV on the third matchday of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season. This season, FC Bayern has won two of two games and the team shines under coach Vincent Kompany, who played for HSV from 2006 to 2008. Munich are currently at the top of the table, while Hamburger SV, who are back in the Bundesliga after seven years, have so far only been able to get one point from two games. The last game before the international break was extremely unfortunate for HSV: a 0-2 loss against city rivals FC St. Pauli. Such setbacks could create additional pressure when playing in Munich.

It's almost like a ghost for the Hamburg team: In recent years they've received absolute blows at the Allianz Arena - including a 0:8 in 2015 and 2017 and a 0:6 in 2018. A real upward trend doesn't seem to be in sight, because the statistics speak for themselves. Bayern have scored a total of 247 goals against HSV, more than against any other opponent in the league.
