Upheaval at TSV 1860 Rosenheim: Coach Schellenberg relies on talent!

TSV 1860 Rosenheim is fully on course for the future this season. Coach Wolfgang Schellenberg, who previously worked in the youth performance center of TSV 1860 Munich for over five years, leads the team with a clear plan. The club would like to get back on the road to success with a young, regional team. On the first matchday of the Landesliga Südost, Rosenheim suffered a painful 1:3 defeat against newly promoted SV Aubing, but Schellenberg sees this defeat as justified. “Aubing is strong,” said the coach.

The return of talent from the region is seen as an important step. The new additions include Noah Markulin and Laurin Fürmeier from SpVgg Unterhaching. Markulin brings a special connection to the club, as his brother plays in the first team and his father holds the role of youth coordinator. Leon Tutic, who most recently played for TSV Buchbach, is also expected to be in the team, while Ahanna Francis Agbowo is out due to injury. He is currently recovering in America.

Upheaval and new beginnings

TSV 1860 Rosenheim is in a state of upheaval not only in terms of sport, but also economically. Richard Meisinger and Peter Wimmer took over the management of the club on June 2, 2023 and found a desolate situation. A relapse from the regional league to the state league within a few years makes a careful reassessment of the structures essential. Wimmer, who returned to the club after 20 years, has already initiated initial measures to improve the infrastructure. Toilets and showers that didn't work and inadequate training equipment need to be addressed.

Working with sponsors and former players is difficult. In addition, the cooperation with SpVgg Unterhaching was initially paused because there are outstanding claims. However, Wimmer emphasizes the fundamentally positive view of the partnership, despite the critical implementation by the previous management.

Promoting young talents

With Wolfgang Schellenberg on board, the club is committed to supporting its youth players. “It’s important to strengthen your own talents,” says Wimmer. Schellenberg's return is seen as key to the club's future direction. The aim is not only to improve sporting performance, but also to create an identity that brings fans and young players together.

In the future, Rosenheim not only wants to get through the season without worries and avoid fears of relegation. The path back to higher-class realms is clearly marked. With the right steps, those responsible are sure that TSV 1860 Rosenheim will soon be able to celebrate its old successes again. We are excited to see how the team will continue to develop under Schellenberg’s leadership.
