Today, October 29, 2025, the Sparkasse in Freiham started a new chapter and inaugurated its newly opened branch at Amalie-Nacken-Straße 6. With a generous area of 550 square meters, the new facility not only offers plenty of space, but also ten consultation rooms and 16 workstations, creating space for up to 20 employees. An ATM also ensures that customers have access to their finances at all times, even if it is a little later after the store closes.
The opening times are convenient: Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with Thursday offering a discount with opening hours until 6 p.m. This means that the savings bank is easily accessible for all residents in Freiham and the surrounding area. Board member Sabine Schölzel emphasizes the central location, which impresses with a mix of retail and grocery stores as well as excellent connections to local public transport. “There’s something there,” you might say – the new possibilities are almost endless!

The opening of the branch also has another meaning: it replaces the previous locations in Aubing and Neuaubing, which will be replaced by a complex investment project. Around eight million euros are planned for the new building on Altostrasse, where eleven apartments are being built, and the renovation on Limesstrasse, where three apartments are being built. The planning is based on the rent index, because affordable living space must be created even in times of change and growth.
Self-service areas with ATMs and transfer printers will remain on the ground floor of the new buildings. This is intended to ensure that a wide range of contact points with the savings bank is created, both digitally and personally. However, the district committee has expressed concerns that the planned building might not completely fit in with the surrounding area. The project was therefore closely coordinated with the monument preservation department to ensure harmonious integration into the cityscape.
A look into the future
The building in Aubing will be demolished at the beginning of 2026, with completion of the new living space planned for the end of 2027. Such developments show that the Sparkasse not only wants to stand for the financial security of the individual, but also actively participates in social housing construction. On average, two existing branches are modernized every year in order to meet the constantly changing requirements, which can be said to be shaped by digital trends and requirements.
