Dear readers, it was the big celebration that many Munich residents and their guests were waiting for: New Year's Eve. But while the champagne corks popped and the rockets lit up the sky on the night of December 31, 2025, there were also some traffic restrictions that had to be observed. The passage was closed between Ismaninger Strasse and Widenmayerstrasse for a distance of 611 meters until January 1, 2026. Widenmayerstrasse was also affected; here the closure extended to 614 meters. The reason for these measures was the New Year's Eve celebration at the Friedensengel. Increased traffic volumes and potential congestion were expected, particularly between 11:15 p.m. and 3 a.m. on New Year's Day.

Public transport adapted

Süddeutsche Zeitung berichtet, waren die U-Bahn-Linien U1 bis U6 bis etwa 1 Uhr im ZEHN-Minuten-Takt unterwegs, bevor sie dann von 1 bis 2 Uhr im 20-Minuten-Takt fuhren. Besonders erfreulich für die Nachtschwärmer: Die U-Bahn blieb bis 2 Uhr in Betrieb und bot damit den Partygästen eine sichere Rückreisemöglichkeit.
