Youth robber on escalator: 14-year-old injured – perpetrator caught!
There was an attack on a 14-year-old teenager at Munich's Marienplatz about a month ago. The incident occurred on April 6, 2025 at around 5:50 p.m. when the boy was traveling with a 13-year-old from the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district. As the tz According to reports, the 14-year-old was approached by three unknown perpetrators and asked to take off his FC Bayern Munich jacket. When he refused, he was harassed at the end of the escalator to the S-Bahn. An attacker hit him in the face with his fist, whereupon the jacket was stolen and the perpetrators fled to the barrier floor of Marienplatz. The boy sustained an injury to his nose and a broken tooth in the attack.
After the police investigated suspicion of theft, surveillance video of the perpetrators was evaluated. On November 22, 2025, all three suspects came forward through their legal representatives and the public search was therefore revoked. The latest developments show how significant the situation was and are a reminder of growing concerns about youth crime in Germany.
Challenges of juvenile crime
According to current statistics, in 2024 there was a peak in youth violence in Germany with around 13,800 cases, more than twice as many as in 2016. This not only affects young perpetrators between the ages of 14 and 17, but also adolescents between the ages of 18 and 20. Psychological stress and other risk factors, especially among young people seeking protection, could be responsible for this increase, as the Federal Criminal Police Office has determined Statista.
Of particular concern is the fact that juvenile crime is predominantly male. In 2024, almost three quarters of young suspects were male, indicating deep-rooted social patterns and behavior. This phenomenon leads to discussion about possible changes in the juvenile criminal law and the question of criminal responsibility in order to positively influence future development.
Call for witnesses to come forward
The police are appealing for information and have released pictures of the suspects. Witnesses are asked to report to the Munich police headquarters or any other police station. The details of the people being sought are as follows:
