Munich awaits a musical highlight: Armin Becker at the Organ Summer!

The Munich Organ Summer 2025 starts in all its glory! From July 4th to September 14th, visitors can expect over 30 free concerts in seven Protestant churches in the city. A special highlight will be Armin Becker's concert on August 15th in the Evangelical Lutheran Episcopal Church of St. Matthäus. Becker, known for his diverse and cross-genre programs, will present a rich repertoire combining jazz, tango and classical organ music.

The opening of the Organ Summer took place on July 4, 2025 in St. Markus, where the restored Steinmeyer organ was celebrated. City Dean Dr. Liess opened the festival for music lovers and families with a welcoming speech and put together a varied program that includes works from Reger to Debussy.

A broad program for everyone

The range of concerts ranges from the Renaissance tablatures of Arnolt Schlick to the romantic and modern compositions of Adolphe Marty, Charles-Marie Widor and Charles Tournemire to the impressionistic pieces of Sigfrid Karg-Elert. The work of Erik Satie, who died 100 years ago, could be particularly exciting. In addition, the meditation by the Canadian composer Vernon Murgatroyd, which combines a Gregorian theme with jazz improvisation, will be an unforgettable experience.

Another highlight of the program will be a “Tango ecclesiastico” by the Swiss Guy Bovet, which will certainly provide a breath of fresh air and variety. There is an interactive concert format for younger guests and their families that is sure to delight.

Cultural diversity and fun for the whole family

The variety of concerts and the special invitation to families are features that make the Munich Organ Summer so popular. In addition to the melodious performances, interactive children's concerts and improvisations are also part of the program. A nice addition is the organ picnic on September 14th in the Church of the Redeemer, where visitors will once again be able to enjoy the special sounds.

Like various music festivals around the world that bring people together and celebrate different cultures, the Munich Organ Summer is firmly anchored in Munich's cultural calendar. The event has been very popular since 2014 and offers music lovers the opportunity to immerse themselves in a wide world of sound.
