Westpark-Center Zittau: New plans and company of the year award!

Big news from Zittau! The Westpark Center was recently awarded the title of “Zittauer Company of the Year 2025”. This award honors the immense achievement of the company, which is not only a popular meeting place for sports enthusiasts, but also makes a significant contribution to the positive development of the city. However, Heiko Wasser and Sophie Siodmok, the operators of the fitness studio, are faced with an encouraging challenge: the high number of people.

Around 300 visitors flock to the Westpark Center every day, especially during peak times between 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. In order to cope with the situation, the admission of new members was temporarily stopped. To better accommodate this rush, the Center is planning an expansion that is expected to be completed by the end of August 2026. The planned extension will double the size of the fitness studio, which will provide significant relief for the space and users. The application for this expansion has already been submitted and approval is expected in early March.

Planned innovations and investments

With an investment volume of around 450,000 euros, of which 250,000 euros come from own funds and funding from the “Regional Growth” program, the Westpark Center is not only being expanded, but is also offering its members numerous new facilities. These include, among other things, new fitness equipment, freely adjustable weights in the free weight area as well as additional ergometers and steppers for endurance training. The number of members is expected to increase by a third, but care will be taken to ensure that showers and changing rooms offer enough space.

Parts of the facade that are damaged due to weather will be renovated as part of the extension. An additional 30,000 to 50,000 euros must be budgeted for this, which also illustrates the company's economic responsibility. A true example of entrepreneurial commitment: the number of employees has increased from 7 to 11, and those responsible are not only concerned with fitness, but also with social, community and political issues, such as the development of Lake Olbersdorf or the construction of a new skate park.

Training opportunities and team spirit

The Westpark Center will also be offering training positions as sports and fitness clerks from August 1, 2025. The three-year dual training takes place both in the studio and at the vocational school in Riesa. A nice advantage for the trainees is the free use of all sports facilities as well as a generous discount in the center's restaurants. Further advantages include further training costs, which are covered, and a pleasant working atmosphere in a humorous team.

The remuneration for training ranges from 700 euros gross in the first year to 1,000 euros gross in the third year. We are looking for athletic and organizational talents who not only have a heart for fitness, but are also communicative and service-oriented.

The Westpark Center is not only a place for sports and leisure, but also an important partner for local clubs, such as the Zittau section of the German Alpine Club.
