Rader experience on Whit Monday: Discover the secrets of Nordheide!

On Whit Monday, June 9, the ADFC district association Harburg calls Radler: Inside on an exciting tour of discovery. The starting signal for the bicycle tour to the ground monuments between Hanstedt and Jesteburg is located at 10:15 a.m. at the Alte Geidenhof in Hanstedt. This tour is an excellent opportunity not only to snap fresh air, but also to immerse yourself in the history of the region and to explore legacies from former residents of the Nordheide. To take part in the tour, a donation is requested for the ADFC.

With a total length of 42 kilometers, the bike route promises both landscape experiences and historical insights. The return is planned around 4 p.m. so that there is enough time to discover the nature and history of the region. The route leads from Hanstedt along the Aue towards Asendorf, where the first destination, the old ring wall between Asendorf and Jesteburg, is waiting.

sights along the route

After the ring wall, we continue to the Rieselwiesen near Lüllau, which were prepared by the Kiekeberg Museum. These Renelwiesen were once a typical feature of the meadows and lost a large part of their original importance due to the industrialization of agriculture.

The tour then leads the participants further towards Jesteburg, past picturesque fish ponds in the Brettbach valley as well as old clay grubs and hill tombs. A small climb towards Schierhorn is also mastered before the group continues to Wesel. There are sights such as the witch house and the pastor bode ponds for cyclists: inside.

A special highlight of the tour is the exploration of an old fountain in the forest east of the Weseler Heide. The conclusion is a visit to Dierkshausen, on the old dam at the edge of the forest of the Töps-Heide, which was once part of the water supply.
