Traffic chaos in Munich: Balanstrasse until July 15th closed!

Munich traffic will be put to the test through several construction sites in the next few weeks. From today, June 27, 2025, Balanstrasse between Welfenstraße and Sankt-Cajetan-Straße is closed to traffic. This measure is scheduled up to and including July 15, 2025. Loud [news.de] (https://www.news.de/amp/auto/85873351/verkehrspland-muenchen-zur-verkehrs-wegen-bauste-schraenkung-von-2 7-06-2025-bis-15-07-2025-Raumen-Rund-Trach-Stamfahr-In-Muenchen-Plz-81669-Haidhausen-Haidhausen-Sued-on-Balanstrasse/1/) the closure will apply from 7:00 a.m. to 5:08 p.m. Drivers: Inside, increased traffic volume and a diversion via St.-Martin-Straße, Rosenheimer Straße and Orleansstraße must count.

In addition, the Sankt-Cajetan-Straße is also closed between Sankt-Cajetan-Straße and Welfenstraße in the same period. For many commuters and residents, this means a significant change and a lot of patience.

other construction sites and traffic disruptions

But not only Balanstrasse is affected. A large number of other construction sites are currently moving all over Munich, which the traffic situation tenses rather than relaxed. The municipal utilities are currently carrying out work on the power grid in Englschalkinger Strasse, which will probably be going on until August 29, 2025. There is no lane, but pedestrians and cyclists can pass the construction site, as can be seen on muenchen.de.

in Forstenried there is a complete blocking of the Forstenrieder Allee until the first week of August, since district heating line is laid. Here, too, there are diversions for car traffic, but pedestrians and cyclists are not affected. Incidentally, restrictions on Fürstenrieder Straße are also expected there, which is responsible for the preparation of the tram-West tangent.

transparency through digital cards

To give residents: inside and road users: to give an overview of all of these construction sites inside, the so -called "service card construction sites" was introduced. This new digital map is a useful tool that makes all temporary traffic restrictions and construction sites transparent in Munich. It was developed jointly by municipal utilities, the Munich transport company and the building department and focuses on measures within the middle ring and on main roads. About [muenchen.digital] (https://muenchen.digital/digitler-zwilling/05_beabstelle card-geoportal-de.html) can be called up for the next few weeks.

While the construction work progresses, all Munichers are asked to keep a cool head inside and, if necessary, plan alternative routes. It is to be hoped that all construction measures will be carried out in good time and effectively so that traffic in Munich will soon flow smoothly again.
