Neustadt gets new head of civil engineering: Utech is planning big changes!

In Neustadt an der Weinstraße there is a breath of fresh air in the civil engineering department. Martin Utech, the new manager since the summer, succeeds Konstantin Boltenhagen, who is retiring but will continue to support construction sites as a part-time employee. Utech has big plans, but they have not yet been revealed in detail. Many of these projects can be found right in front of his office on Amalienstrasse, where he is currently working hard.

The construction sites are part of the preparations for the 2027 State Garden Show, which will be held in Neustadt. The redesign of the designated area is progressing according to plan. A particular focus is on the Neubachwiesen, where new paths are being created and groynes are being built in water engineering. These structures, obtained directly from local deforestation, are intended to create rich habitats in the water in the future. This creates not only a beautiful sight, but also a valuable ecosystem.

Construction site tours in June and July 2025

Anyone interested in the progress will soon have the opportunity to take part in construction site tours. These will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025, and Friday, July 11, 2025, at 5 p.m. The meeting point is the parking lot of the former VfL site at Branchweilerhofstrasse 125. The tours offer an informative walk up the panoramic mountain with a breathtaking view of the entire site and an interesting explanation of the renaturation work along the Speyerbach.

Particularly important for anyone interested: comfortable, ankle-high and waterproof shoes are mandatory for the tour on unpaved paths. The number of participants is limited, so registration is required via email info-lgs@neustadt.eu strongly recommended.

How the events and progress progress remains exciting. The measures to redesign the state horticultural show site show how, in addition to the construction work, the preservation of nature is also taken into account. Martin Utech has truly established himself as the “lord of the construction sites” and will certainly continue to work with a good hand.
