Construction site chaos in Laim: traffic control required!
The construction site of the tram west tangent on Fürstenrieder Straße caused a lot of excitement in Laim. The Laim District Committee (BA) is on the barricades and is now calling for urgent measures to improve the tense situation. The main points that belong on the agenda are clear traffic diversions and controlled stop areas so that everyone gets to their destination safely and quickly. Reliable traffic monitoring in the construction site area is also essential to prevent possible mishaps. It is particularly important to avoid massive discharges into small side streets and to prevent further construction sites nearby while this major construction site is still underway.
The Munich public utilities (SWM) are also asked to provide direct information about changes to stops and bus routes. Notices are a must-have here to keep passengers as informed as possible tz reported. From Thursday, bus routes 51 and 151 will return to their regular routes, while other routes will continue to be rerouted.
Current developments and schedule
This construction site resulted in a number of modifications. The crossing on Gotthardstrasse will be closed until mid-December and on Fürstenrieder Strasse the one-way regulation between Camerloherstrasse and Gotthardstrasse will be lifted. The focus is also on dealing with problems with ground voids on Gotthardstrasse. The return to regular service of Tram 19 is planned for December 20, 2025, followed by partial commissioning of the new Tram 14 on February 27, 2026. The completion of the intersection area with Agnes-Bernauer-Straße is targeted for the summer holidays of 2026 and the demolition of the motorway bridge at Ammerseestraße is expected to start in February 2026.
To ensure that residents and commuters do not throw in the towel, reliable information and timely measures are crucial so that the traffic situation, which was already stressful during the construction phase, is not further inflamed. One can only hope that after all the chaos, the planned result is actually worth the effort. In these turbulent times, it is important to celebrate even the small successes and to cope with everyday life with a smile - according to the motto that could be true now more than ever: "It's almost Friday."
