Railway to Holzkirchen: continuous operation from Thursday!
München, Deutschland - Many commuters and day trippers can finally breathe a sigh of relief! From Thursday, July 17th, the railway line between Munich and Holzkirchen will be passable again. After weeks of restrictions on soft damage that has been holding since the end of June, normality is now returning. Traffic is regularly included in Holzkirchen for the Munich S-Bahn, which should conjure up a smile in the face for many travelers. The Bavarian Regiobahn (BRB) will follow on Friday with its full access.
The maintenance work at Deisenhofen train station has now been completed. The travelers have had to be patient over the past few weeks, since the route was closed due to turnout damage in Deisenhofen and Unterhaching. This damage had been determined during a regular inspection, which caused Deutsche Bahn to close the route for security reasons. The diversions and the inadequate rail replacement traffic had caused frustration for many passengers, especially since at first not enough space in the large -scale taxis and buses used.
reintegration of train traffic
While the S3 has been serving the section between Giesing and Deisenhofen since July 10, it will be possible again from Thursday to use the entire route to Holzkirchen. This is good news after the critical feedback from commuters and traffic ministers who have pointed out the problems with the rail replacement traffic. The replacement traffic could not fully compensate for the capacities of the trains and significantly extended the travel times.
"We ask for understanding and recommend not to avoid absolutely necessary trips", the DB had declared until regular traffic was restored. Bus traffic was later converted to a 20-minute cycle between Giesing and Holzkirchen, but the travelers longed for the usual amenity of the train journey.
long -term solutions for infrastructure
The challenges on this route are part of a major problem that the train wants to tackle in the coming years. For 2024, Deutsche Bahn invests a total of 16.4 billion euros in the renewal of the rail infrastructure in order to stop the decay and reduce unpunctuality. The renewal of 2,000 kilometers of tracks and 2,000 switches are on the plan. These measures also affect around 1,000 train stations and stops, including in Munich.
Philipp Nagl, the head of the new infrastructure company DB-Infrago, has announced that the aging of the railway infrastructure in 2024 should be stopped. In doing so, they want to tackle the “age -based catch -up requirement” of 103.4 billion euros, of which 59.9 billion euros are intended for bridges. Even where the concerns about security are at the top, rail traffic is dependent on constant improvements.
The travelers are asked to inform themselves about current information in the information media such as on the website of the S-Bahn Munich and Bavarian regiobahn-after all, it saves nerves if you plan in advance. We look forward to a return of the usual trips soon and hope that the investments in Deutsche Bahn will also lead to a noticeable improvement.
With these developments, Munich traffic is relieved a bit and commuters can make their everyday life a little more relaxed again.
