Shock on horse farm: girl with a hay fork in the leg seriously injured!
On Tuesday afternoon, a serious accident occurred at a horse farm in Lochhausen, in which an eleven -year -old girl was injured. The girl had a hay fork in the lower leg and urgently needed medical help. The emergency services were alerted at around 3 p.m. after the emergency call had been received.
The situation was so critical that the first aid was not sufficient. The fire brigade and emergency services quickly arrived at the scene of the accident. After all, special forces from the fire brigade had to be consulted in order to be able to treat the girl optimally. An angle grinder was used to separate a tine of the hay fork so that safe transport to the clinic was possible. Finally, the injured girl was flown into a shock room of a Munich children's clinic with a rescue helicopter, where further measures were taken.
always dangerous: accidents in equestrian sports
The incident in Lochhausen throws a light on the dangers in equestrian sports. According to an analysis of sports doctors, a total of 242 patients were treated in hospital due to equestrian injuries. It is striking that about 93.2% of these injuries are classified as easy, while 7.5% of those affected were seriously injured. On average, seriously injured patients are 35.1 years old, which shows that serious accidents often go directly with equestrian sports.
The most common cause of the accident is the fall of the horse (77.7%), followed by injuries from reins, straps and horse kicks and bites. It is particularly alarming that surgical therapies are usually also necessary for serious injuries. Statistically speaking, almost 50% of the slightly injured patients need surgical intervention. This illustrates the risk that the rider and especially the young riders are exposed to.
The fire brigade has so far been able to publish no exact details of the accident on the riding stable in Lochhausen. This suggests that further investigations are necessary to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident. The girl and family now hope for a quick recovery.
How often in such accidents is the question of security precautions on rating facilities. The forcons of pitchfits that are used on many horse stoves are typically between 20 and 40 centimeters long and can cause considerable injuries in an emergency. In this context it becomes clear that security measures have to be taken seriously to prevent similar incidents in the future
The local community is concerned about the incidents and security at riding stations. Young riders in particular like the tragically injured girl are dependent on a safe handling of the animals and the devices in order to be able to exercise their loved one without danger.
Overall, it can be hoped that the girl will soon get back on her feet and get the necessary medical help.
