Oktoberfest 2025: New rides and culinary highlights!

Oktoberfest 2025 is casting its shadows ahead! From September 20th to October 5th, the Theresienwiese in Munich will be transformed into a colorful festival site full of tradition and the latest attractions. This year, visitors can look forward to some exciting innovations. Loud Charivari There are four fresh rides ready to provide thrills and fun.

A highlight is the new “Sky Lift”, a 71 meter high observation tower that offers breathtaking views over the festival grounds and beyond. The four gondolas allow passengers to either relax or experience an exciting rotation. The “Ghost Cave” at the Oidn Wiesn also promises parents and children eerily beautiful moments. It is a classic ghost train from 1965 that features lovingly designed scenes. For the little guests there is the nostalgic “Montgolfiere” carousel, which gently lifts them up into the air. The octagonal design of the “Happy Sailor”, a classic round ride, also increases the level of maritime driving pleasure.

Delightful culinary innovations

But there are innovations not only in the ride universe. The culinary landscape of the festival is enriched by the newly opened “Pretzel Bakery”. Things are also getting modern in the Armbrustschützenzelt, because for the first time payments are made cashless - a great relief for festival visitors. Interestingly, the prices for a pint of beer this year are between 14.50 and 15.50 euros. Non-alcoholic drinks have also become a little more expensive, which will certainly make some visitors smile.

Every year, Oktoberfest attracts between six and seven million guests who enjoy the festival with good food and drink. The origins of Oktoberfest are the celebrations on the occasion of the wedding of Prince Regent Ludwig of Bavaria to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen in 1810. The citizen and officer Andreas Michael Dall'Armi suggested a large horse race as an anniversary celebration, an idea that King Max I Joseph of Bavaria enthusiastically took up. This first wedding party then developed into the Oktoberfest as we know it today - a happy folk festival on the Theresienwiese, where joy and conviviality are the focus.
