Allach is celebrating 33 years of village festival: tradition, fun and fire brigade help!

Next Saturday, June 21st, Allach near Munich will be celebrating its popular village festival for the 33rd time. This special event has developed over the years into a real highlight in the Allach event calendar and attracts both long-established and new faces. The Weekly Gazette reports that the festival was originally launched on July 1, 1989 on the initiative of Edwin Reng to support the voluntary work of the fire department.

The Allach fire department has worked tirelessly to organize the festival since then. The proceeds go directly to the purchase of important equipment, such as a defibrillator and a thermal imaging camera. These modern tools are crucial in order to be able to react in the best possible way in emergencies. An impressive tradition that has stood the test of time and is still fondly remembered today is also the first event that attracted many visitors despite the initial rain. Even beer table sets were set up and the party ended in a lively atmosphere that lasted late into the night.

The development of the village festival

A lot has happened since the first festival in 1989. Until 2002, the village festival took place on Hans Zaun's farm, before it moved to the clubhouse premises in 2003. When the brewery changed from Hacker-Pschorr to Löwenbräu, there was also a change in tradition. Since 2014 at the latest, when a cooperation with the Augustiner brewery was started and since then every Saturday a wooden barrel has traditionally been tapped at 12 o'clock sharp, the festival has developed into the center of the Allach community. Particularly remarkable: the beer only ran out once during the festival - a record of 50 hectoliters, which remains unmatched to this day Allach fire department reveals.

Every year a new music group is hired to ensure a good atmosphere. The village festival not only contributes to the joy of the residents, but also promotes cohesion within the fire department team. Preparations for the next festival usually start immediately after the current one ends, which shows how important this event is for everyone involved.

A celebration for young and old

The village festival has managed to become the central social event for young and old in the region. It offers a colorful supporting program and strengthens the community in Allach. What is particularly noteworthy is that the humorous evenings that took place in 2014, 2016 and 2018 were well received. A planned concert with “Haindling” in 2020 had to be canceled due to the pandemic, which highlighted the unforeseeable challenges that the Allach fire department also has to overcome.

The village festival posters, which have been designed since 1989, are hung in the fire station and show the development of the festival. The unchanged design contributes to the identity and history of the traditional festival and is appreciated by the residents.

Overall, the village festival is not just a celebration, but also a symbol of the cohesion and tradition of Allach, which is kept alive.
