CSD in Munich: Important diversions for trams and buses on June 28th!
On June 28th, Munich will once again become a colorful festival mile when Christopher Street Day (CSD) is celebrated. The highlight is the big political parade, which has the motto “Liberté, Diversité, Queerité” under the sign of equality and acceptance of queer people. Led by Mayor Dieter Reiter, the parade will cover a distance of 3.5 kilometers through the city center, starting at Mariahilfplatz and ending at Ludwigstrasse. 200 groups, including the famous motorcycle group “Dykes on Bikes”, will take part[muenchen.de].
The Munich Transport Company (MVG) has announced that there will be extensive diversions and interruptions in tram and bus traffic due to the CSD. The Odeonsplatz and Von-der-Tann-Straße stops are particularly affected, as they cannot be served in both directions. These changes will apply from June 26th in preparation for the big event[abendzeitung-muenchen.de]. From June 30th, normal operations will resume at 4:00 p.m.
Detours in detail
Bus 100 will not stop at Odeonsplatz, while bus 153 starts and ends at the Universität stop. The Von-der-Tann-Straße and Odeonsplatz stops are no longer available for this bus in both directions. The night bus lines N40, N41 and N45 also cannot serve the Odeonsplatz and Von-der-Tann-Straße stops in the direction of Karlsplatz[mvg.de].
Additionally, there are changes to tram lines 17, 18, 19 and 21. Operating times vary, with some lines not serving all stops between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and others between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The trams then only serve certain sections, which means that many usual stops such as Karlsplatz (Stachus) or the German Museum are not served[mvg.de].
Preparations and information for passengers
In order to inform passengers about the changes, the MVG is using notices, ticker texts and announcements in the vehicles. For further information, passengers can use the MVG website or the app to keep up to date with current connections[abendzeitung-muenchen.de].
The anticipation for Christopher Street Day is already great, because the event promises not only a celebration of diversity, but also a strong signal for the rights of the queer community in southern Germany. Whether at the parade or the celebrations in the city area - the entire Munich population is invited to celebrate and enjoy the bright colors of diversity.
