Pasinger town hall: Artistic collage now immortalized on the ground floor!
Pasing-Obermenzing, Deutschland - The Pasinger town hall has been a bit embellished! From now on, the impressive "Pasing picture" is adorned with the ground floor of the historical old building. This colorful collage, which was created by 16 artists during the Pasing-Obermenzing cultural days in 2015, expresses the joie de vivre and diversity of the district. The initiator of the project, Mike Keilbach, who previously kept the artwork in his garden house, has now taken a significant step to finally present it in its planned place.
What exactly makes this work of art so special? It consists of 54 individual images, which are three meters of sixty times two meters forty. These were divided creatively and distributed to the participating artists by lot. The motifs show charming views of the Pasing district, including the striking Blutenburg, the busy train station and some of the beautiful churches. All of this is amazed and invites the viewers to rediscover the diversity of the district.
In recent years, the relevance of art in public spaces has increased significantly. Numerous cities, including Heilbronn, rely on the design of public places by works of art. There are more than 80 monumental works that are integrated into the urban area. This development is shown in a variety of styles and epochs that can beautify the cityscape and also stimulate thought. The municipal museums in Heilbronn report on significant work, which would certainly make the heart of the Munich cultural fans beat faster, such as the figure group of Joannis Avramidis or the musician fountain of Eberhard Linke.
A reason for Mike Keilbach's new attempt at the district committee (BA) were the positive reactions to his offer to hang up the picture in the town hall. The proposal to place it at the foot of the stairs to the foyer of the meeting room was very well received, but the district administration department (KVR) still has to give its approval. So it will be interesting to see whether the Pasinger can soon admire the finished work of art in their town hall.
But art in public space is not just something for the Pasinger town hall. A look at history reveals that there has been increasing demand for this form of art since the 1960s. Initiatives such as the “outdoor plastic” in Hamburg or the sculpture projects in Münster have contributed to making art more accessible to everyone. Today, art projects have become an integral part of urban planning. Especially in Munich, the topic is experiencing a renaissance through projects such as the Pasing picture that further consolidate the city's cultural memory.
Through these developments, art is increasingly becoming an important element that not only offers space for creative development, but also stimulates social discussions and encourages you to think. The variety of styles and forms of expression - be it through sculpture, street art or unusual installations - makes life in the city more colorful and invites everyone to take a look behind the scenes of urban culture. The official inauguration of the Pasing picture will certainly be a highlight for all art lovers of the region!
