Zurichstrasse becomes barrier -free: renovation starts on June 23!
The construction and renovation measures along Zurichstrasse in Bachenbülach and Winkel are imminent. From June 23, 2025 it starts and the goal is clear: the street receives a new, noisy stem surface and two bus stops are being expanded barrier -free. This comprehensive renovation includes the section from Länggenstrasse to the old country road and will significantly increase the quality of life in the region.
The construction work is divided into different stages and are expected to continue until the beginning of September 2026. During this time, traffic is directed by the construction area with the help of light signal systems. So there should be no too much dust formation and the commuters can make their daily trip as pleasant as possible. The foot, velo and skating routes are diverted during the construction period via Bitziberg, Blumenau, Dorf- and Schulhausstrasse. "Especially for the many cyclists and pedestrians, it is important that they are well progressed during the construction work," said a spokesman for the community.
extensive measures and new infrastructure
The renovation work is not just a cosmetic nature. Rather, the public infrastructure is also extensively renewed. The exchange of overloaded sewage system elements and the replacement of old water pipes from 1969 are just as much on the agenda as the new building of a slide shaft and the renewal of hydrants. This guarantees improved water dissipation and ensures that everything all around all around. In addition, the junctions of the road are adapted to increase pedestrian security, and new bus stops and underfloor containers are installed. Accordingly, the waiting houses are also renewed, which significantly increases comfort for all waiting people.
"The fact that the crossings of the crossings are also redesigned by Breiti- and Bitzibergstrasse shows how seriously the municipalities take traffic safety," says a person responsible from the administration. The Schmiede stop also remains in operation, with a single interruption between May and September 2026. To October 2025, the Seebüel stop in Winkel will also be expanded.
traffic transition as a central challenge
These measures are part of a larger trend in the municipalities that are faced with the challenge of reducing greenhouse emissions and at the same time ensuring a functioning traffic system. According to a study by the German Institute for Urban Studies (DIFU), investments of around 372 billion euros are necessary to maintain and expand the infrastructures. More and more municipalities are therefore relying on sustainable transport systems that are not only more environmentally friendly, but also increase the quality of life.
In Germany, around 20 % of greenhouse gas emissions are caused by motorized traffic. This makes it all the more important to focus on sustainable mobility. Projects such as that in Bachenbülach are a step in this direction and require both a good knack for planning and close cooperation between the communities. All of this is of great importance for future mobility in cities and municipalities.
Regular information about the construction site and traffic tours on the websites of the municipalities will be available for all interested parties. For updates and details about the progress, the pages of nau.ch and Bachenbuelach.ch recommended. These initiatives are not only important for the direct environment, but also part of a larger plan to improve the infrastructure and the quality of life in urban rooms.
