Five friends: artificial legends and their secret connections in Munich

Museum Brandhorst, München, Deutschland - The exhibition in Museum Brandhorst In the coming weeks the impressive presentation "Five Friends" will show. This special show is dedicated to the important US artists Cy Twombly, John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg and creates a multifaceted portrait of their common artistic and personal relationships. The exhibition runs until August 17th and offers a deep insight into the creative work of these avant -garde.

In the upper rooms of the museum, visitors can marvel at the large -format rose paintings by Twombly from 2008. These works are not only colorful, but also contain quoted letters that refer to the words of famous poets, such as Rainer Maria Rilke or Emily Dickinson. Exemplary, TwomBly makes small changes to the verses, which is an exciting examination of text and visual art.

The exhibition also addresses the intimate connections between the artists. John Cage and Merce Cunningham, who met in the early 1940s, were not only creative partners, but also in a romantic relationship. On June 17th, the BRSO John Cages will perform “Atlas Eclipticalis”, a work that is inspired by a star atlas and gives the musicians creative freedom. In addition, concerts in the Isarphilharmonie are on the program on June 19 and 20, in which Igor Levit, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra and Choir of the BRSO, will appear.

On June 24th, Christoph Prégardien will finally conquer the audience in the All Saints' Court Church with Amadeus Wiesensee under the motto "Schwanengesang". Schubert and Henri Duprac are on the program while the Hubertussaal remains closed due to renovation work.
