Election helpers wanted: Take part in Munich's local elections!

Nowadays everything in Munich revolves around the upcoming local elections on March 8, 2026. The electoral office has now started the search for committed election workers. Over a million citizens are called upon to cast their vote. The elections affect not only the office of mayor, but also the city council with 80 members and 25 district committees. A big event that also needs a lot of support!

For this implementation, around 14,000 election workers will be needed on March 8th and 9th to help in the polling rooms and postal voting centers. Such willingness is pretty neat and makes for good business for everyone who takes part. The compensation for the helpers is between 130 and 180 euros, depending on the task in the electoral board. And don't worry, it's not that complicated - no previous knowledge is required!

Conditions for election workers

To become a poll worker you must be at least 18 years old. This ensures that only experienced hands take action. Citizenship is also an important point: you either have to have German citizenship or that of an EU member state. For those who are unsure, there are training courses available both in person and online. This makes voting a breeze!

If you are now curious and would like to get involved, you can find all further information and registration online on the City of Munich website at stadt.muenchen.de.
