Rapid escape through Munich: Drunk driver injures pedestrians!

A wild hustle and bustle on the streets of Munich caused a stir on Monday: a 32-year-old driver not only endangered himself, but also numerous other road users. At around 6:30 p.m. the man was driving his Toyota on the Donnersberger Bridge towards Westpark and showed anything but a good grasp of traffic regulations. As the Evening newspaper According to reports, the first accident occurred when he hit a VW belonging to a 31-year-old woman from the Wolfratshausen district. But that was just the beginning!

As we all know, all good things come in threes, and so the driver turned bored onto Landsberger Straße despite the red light. The next appearance followed at around 7:30 p.m. on Arnulfstrasse, where he collided again with several vehicles - another Toyota, an Audi and a Smart were not spared. An 80-year-old pedestrian who wanted to avoid the wild Toyota was slightly injured in the fatal maneuver.

Police operation and arrest

The adventure playground for the 32-year-old came to an end when the police arrived. But here too, the man resisted and even attacked the officers, leaving four of them slightly injured. Ultimately he was stopped on Landshuter Allee near Nymphenburger Straße. During the arrest, the smell of alcohol was detected and a blood sample was supposed to clarify the exact alcohol level.

Drunk driving – a serious danger! According to studies carried out by VUT Sachverachtengesellschaft mbH & Co.KG, alcohol impairs the ability to react, spatial imagination and coordination. Serious legal consequences can arise from just 0.3 per mille, with absolute inability to drive being determined from 1.1 per mille - not to mention the financial and health disadvantages that an alcohol-related accident brings with it. The Munich traffic police will continue to intensify the investigation to clarify exactly what happened.

Impact and prevention

The consequences of an alcohol-related accident are far-reaching: fines, driver's license suspension and potential prison sentences are just a few of the possible consequences. But your personal environment can also be affected. The lobby for education and responsible action is becoming louder, not least through initiatives such as “Don’t Drink and Drive”, which aim to minimize unpredictable situations on the road.

At the moment it remains to be seen what further legal prosecution will bring for the 32-year-old. Today, August 12th, he will be brought before an investigating judge to decide on the question of detention. Witnesses who can say anything about his route or the driving behavior of the white Toyota are asked to contact the police. It is only the responsibility of each individual to minimize the risk on the road and guarantee safety for everyone.
