Large community picture in the Pasing town hall: art that inspires!
A collective painting by the artist group art-Vision, which was created around ten years ago as part of a district festival in Pasing-Obermenzing, is currently on display in the Pasing town hall. This large-format work of art measures an impressive 240 cm x 360 cm and shows striking motifs from the district, including a young woman in traditional costume and the Pasing train station. The approximately 15 artists who were involved in this project designed the picture on a voluntary basis. The city covered the material costs, which shows how important the district and its cultural development are to those responsible. The plan is to make the work publicly accessible and present it permanently, including an official inauguration with information boards that will draw attention to the artists involved. Among the active members are such sensitive talents as Babs Beyer, Robert Birk, Manuela Franz and other creative minds.
“Art in public spaces is much more than just a pretty picture,” is the opinion of experts. In many cases, as with the community image in Pasing, direct dialogue with the population is encouraged. A perspective that has long been known in art and cultural work was particularly illustrated in 2024 by seven art exhibitions in the Pasing town hall. The Art and Culture Association is also planning numerous exciting exhibitions in and around the Pasing town hall for 2025. Exciting programs are already in the starting blocks, including a collaboration with the School of Fantasy from Gauting and a traveling exhibition by the street art project “Kunst am Bauzaun”.
A look at upcoming exhibitions
The planning for the cultural tourism year 2025 includes a variety of art forms and realities of life. Visitors can soon look forward to the following exhibitions:
- Frühjahr: Ausstellung mit der Schule der Fantasie Gauting und der Paul-Hey-Mittelschule Gauting.
- Frühling: Wanderausstellung „Kunst am Bauzaun“ mit Fotografien und Drucken.
- Frühsommer: Ausstellung der „Granny-Gang“ mit Malereien im Rathaus.
- Oktober: Ausstellung über Engel-Skulpturen im Würmtal von Dr. Michael Meuer.
This variety of projects testifies to a dynamic art life in the region and invites a broad public to come into contact with art. In numerous discussions with artists, the possibilities of further exhibitions are considered, which allows new ideas and perspectives to flow into the cultural spaces of Pasing.
Now more than ever, art in public spaces has the task of addressing social issues and opening up access to cultural participation. Innovative projects, similar to the works of art experienced in Pasing, aim to enter into direct dialogue with citizens and thus raise awareness of relevant topics. In participation projects, such as those that have already been successfully carried out in other cities, the voice of the community is made visible and audible - a basic idea that should definitely be pursued in the Pasingen context.
Overall, this commitment shows how important art is for social cohesion and that it can offer a platform that meets the highest standards. The most diverse perspectives and talents of artists will continue to find their place in the Pasinger town hall and draw guests' attention to important topics. Samerberger News reports that the works of art can not only beautify, but also create dialogue spaces in which a feeling of participation arises. At this point, cultural education becomes accessible to those people who cannot be easily reached in traditional settings.
