Chaos in the S-Bahn: Man releases emergency brake and escapes between tracks!

On Sunday, June 15th, there was an incident on the S-Bahn trains around Munich that required the intervention of the federal police. A 32-year-old man from Kazakhstan activated the emergency brake on an S-Bahn in Laim/Pasing and opened the doors using the emergency unlocking mechanism oberpfalz-aktuell.com reported. He got out with a bicycle, but shortly afterwards left it between the tracks because it was too heavy for him.

While he was walking between the tracks towards the Laim marshalling yard, this triggered an emergency braking of the S-Bahn, without any injuries being reported. To clarify the situation, a police helicopter was used to search the railway line. The man was finally caught at the Hirschgarten S-Bahn stop. During the check, officers found a small amount of cannabis on him. He said he was living in a tent after his apartment burned down. The 32-year-old is now facing several investigations into theft, dangerous interference with rail traffic and the misuse of emergency aid facilities.

Misuse of emergency facilities

In another incident at another location in Munich, more precisely at the main train station, an unknown man caused a stir. At around 4:30 p.m. he deliberately triggered a fire alarm and shouted loudly: “Now it’s starting – bomb alarm!” This incident led to the federal police evacuating the station area on the mezzanine floor as well as the S-Bahn platforms and closing the stairwells. The Munich fire department was also on site with a fire engine. The alarm was canceled at 4:45 p.m. after the situation was deemed non-threatening and the fire alarm window was replaced. Investigations into the misuse of emergency aid facilities have already begun bahnblogstelle.com reported.

The Federal Police, which in Germany is responsible, among other things, for security on railway systems, consists of around 55,000 employees and is based in various federal police directorates, such as bundespolizei.de explained. Their tasks extend not only to border protection, but also to the supervision of major events and participation in international police missions.

Arrests at border controls

On the same weekend, the federal police also arrested five wanted people during border controls. Among those arrested was a Georgian and a Slovak who were taken into custody, while three others were able to pay off their judicial debts and thus continued their journey. A 48-year-old Slovakian who was picked up at Rosenheim train station without a ticket or identification documents was taken to the Traunstein correctional facility. The arrest of a 44-year-old Georgian at the Mittenwald border crossing was particularly explosive because there were several arrest warrants against him for theft. Another two Germans settled their fines for violating the compulsory insurance law and for a banned car race.
