Construction work on the main line: S-Bahn timetables affected!

Imagine the S-Bahn network around Munich being a little upside down for some time! From today, July 12, 2025, until Monday, July 14, 2025, at 4:40 a.m., there will be extensive construction work on the main S-Bahn route. The reason is necessary renovation and maintenance work, which will have a significant impact on the timetable. As always when it comes to construction sites, information is the be-all and end-all! So reported news.de about the effects on the various S-Bahn lines.

The following lines are particularly affected:

Replacement traffic and special regulations

Deutsche Bahn wants to make the construction work period as pleasant as possible for everyone who depends on the S-Bahn. If there are delays of more than 20 minutes, passengers are allowed to continue their journey on another route, even on long-distance trains that do not require reservations. Information about replacement traffic and other construction sites is available online so that travelers can always stay up to date.

In addition to the current work on the main route, there have already been construction sites in the recent past that have affected traffic. For example, extensive construction work also took place in Laim between April 18th and April 22nd to prepare for the commissioning of track 2. During this period too, no S-Bahn traffic was possible between Pasing and Donnersbergerbrücke, and the city center was still accessible with four S-Bahn lines. Bus replacement services have also been organized to ensure continuous mobility, as by deutschebahn.com reported.

Always well informed

For even better planning, passengers can visit the Munich S-Bahn website at s-bahn-muenchen.de inform about current construction sites and timetable changes. QR codes at train stations provide helpful directions to alternative bus and subway stops, so no one has to be left out in the rain. Information steles at the affected stops also provide information about all the necessary details.

In these times of construction, it is particularly important to plan well and get information in good time. Whether for the commute to work or for a trip to the beautiful surroundings of Munich, with the right information the stress will hopefully be left behind.
