In Munich, the Schickeria in Obermenzing has been closed since the end of August 2025. Landlord Thomas Lerchenberger only took over the restaurant in the summer of 2024 with the aim of reviving the flair of bygone times. The reasons for the closure are clear: Lerchenberger was faced with a drastic rent increase. If he had had to pay 11,000 euros plus revenue share instead of the previous 6,500 euros in the future, this would have cost almost 19,700 euros per month - an amount that the restaurateur cannot afford. In fact, the Hofbräu brewery disputes these increases and emphasizes that the conditions were already set out in the lease agreement that Lerchenberger signed, as the tz reported.

A considerable investment of around 150,000 euros went into the chic restaurant to make the restaurant attractive. Lerchenberger estimated the decline in sales in recent months resulted in the need to lay off employees and deal with insolvency issues.
