Volunteer Rockt Munich: Volunteer Day on July 19 in Pasing-Obermenzing!

On Saturday, July 19, Pasing-Obermenzing and the Munich Center will take place in the volunteer day, and this is an opportunity that nobody should miss. The day, initiated by Sabine Bankauf and her fellow campaigner Anne Martini, not only offers the opportunity to try out different honorary posts, but also the opportunity to get to know the community better. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., interested parties can create a flower meadow, repair Christkindlmarkt stalls or clean stumbling blocks. Creative offers such as a bingo with drag queens and a reading arathon ensure a varied program.

It is particularly noteworthy that more than 20 clubs and organizations with hands-on activities are at the start in Pasing-Obermenzing. Among them is the “Friends of old people” association, which offers a narrative café in the Ebenböckvilla. The court culture of Pasing is also looking for active helpers with carpentry experience to cut stage elements. If you want to help at the Munich-Pasing Zither Orchestra, you can take care of a driving service and at the same time support public relations. Registration for the various actions is easily possible online.

commitment in the community

The volunteer day attracts not only in Pasing-Obermenzing, but also in other districts such as Altstadt-Lehel, Maxvorstadt and Isarvorstadt-Ludwigvorstadt. Here, for example, the station mission is looking for helpers for emergency care, while the ASZ Lehel needs active support for the preparation of a flea market. All information about the actions and registration options is available online, so that everyone quickly finds a suitable project.

But what does the Munich people move to such a commitment? The ongoing need for volunteers cannot be overlooked. Social circumstances and environmental disasters increase the need for support, especially in the area of inclusion of people with physical or intellectual disabilities. Working with children and adolescents, for example through homework or sponsorships for minor refugees, also urgently needs volunteers. In Munich, many pensioners suffer from unaffordable rental prices, which results in poverty in old age. Volunteers therefore play a key role in combating this social problem.

Green spaces themselves cultivate

Another interesting project in Pasing-Obermenzing is the possibility to make a note of a herb garden parcel. More and more Munich women are interested in the in -house production of fresh vegetables. Visited information can obtain resident information via the presentation for urban planning and building regulations and apply for a parcel of 30 or 60 square meters. At an information event that took place on April 9, 2025 in the Pasing Adult Education Center, the Freising landscape architect Angelika Ruhland presented the project. This not only offers the opportunity for self -sufficiency, but also promotes health through movement and fresh products as well as the exchange within the community.

The volunteer day is rounded off by a graduation ceremony in the evening from 6 p.m. in Kunstlabor2 at Dachauer Straße 90. There, visitors can expect an entertaining music program and a buffet that ends the day stylishly.

Discover the diverse possibilities of engagement in Munich and take part! Because as the saying goes: if you return something, you have won a lot yourself.
