Munich celebrates: Traditional Naadam Festival of Friends of Mongolia!
in Bogenhausen, where tradition is on community, the association "Friends of Mongolia" is committed to a good cause. On June 2, 2025, a remarkable announcement was made: the traditional National Festival of Mongolia, Naadam, is just around the corner. From July 10th to 13th, Munich can look forward to exciting competitions such as horse racing, archery and wrestling. The motto of the association, "Munich combines", expresses the endeavor to beat bridges between cultures.
The association was founded in 1996 and specializes from the start to support development aid projects in Mongolia. The initiatives are particularly well received in the field of education and in children's aid. The projects include the book bridge that collects Mongolian literature to support educational centers. The Mongolian Youth Development Services Center is also part of the versatile work, which has also comprised leisure clubs and development programs for disadvantaged children and adolescents since 2009.
activities and meet
A central component of club life is the monthly regulars' table. This takes place every first Thursday of the month from 7 p.m. in the Yak & Yeti Wirtshaus on the Donnersberger Bridge. Not only club members, but all interested parties are welcome here. In order for the organizers to plan better, asking is to be briefly registered by email or WhatsApp beforehand. The Daaluu evening, which takes place every third Friday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the mosaic, Rosa-Bavarese-Straße 21, is also well received. No matter whether an experienced Daaluu player or newcomer, laughing here, singing and playing games together.
The number of members of the association is currently around 60. The voluntary work of the parties involved is essential for the success of the initiatives. With a good hand you ensure that the projects grow and develop continuously.

The first Mongolian school in Munich was launched in 2012 and currently supports up to 20 children. Here you can not only learn your own language, but also make a deeper connection to Mongolian culture. The association sees itself as a duty not only to improve educational opportunities, but also to preserve cultural identity.
The exchange between Germany and Mongolia is funded by various events and courses. With a variety of activities that are carried out on a voluntary basis, it can be seen how valuable the cultural exchange is for the community in Munich
