St. Peter am Hart: New chronicle documents 30 years of history!
It will soon be time for a big celebration in St. Peter am Hart. Mayor Robert Wimmer has made it his mission to revitalize the history of the community. After almost 30 years without an updated chronicle, the new community chronicle will be presented on December 10, 2025 - and you can look forward to an exciting review of the last three decades. The last chronicle ended around 30 years ago, so events from natural disasters to the opening of the bypass now shine in a new light.
Inspiration for this project came to Wimmer about three years ago. “In the digital age, a lot of interesting information is lost,” he emphasizes. These words were quickly heard by the local council, who unanimously supported the idea. Wimmer receives support from former mayor Rüdiger Buchholz and historian Florian Kotanko, who worked together with Sandra Kirov on the research and development of the texts.
The chronicle in detail
The new chronicle will not only document significant events, but also create a kind of temporal anchor for the residents of St. Peter am Hart. These living documents are an important part of the community's cultural memory - preserving memories and strengthening a sense of belonging. As a study shows, such chronicles also promote collaboration within the community and provide future generations with a valuable source of their history and values. Mayors and local councils can save time and money with the support of professionals, as experienced authors can often implement such projects much more efficiently. This is proven in St. Peter am Hart, where a ghostwriter was used.
A highlight of the new chronicle is the last documented event: the tower cross setting at the end of September 2025, which forms a symbolic conclusion to the chronological records. The cover of the book is decorated with an impressive woodcut by Professor Hans Plank, who lived in St. Peter and influenced the local art scene.
Invitation to the book presentation
The book presentation will take place on December 10th at 7 p.m. in the Gasthaus Berger. Kati Hochhold will host the evening, while the band 5er-Schmäh will provide musical entertainment. The book will be available both at the event and afterwards in the community office. This gives everyone the opportunity to take a piece of the community's history home with them and become part of the chronicle themselves.
If you would like to learn more about the history or meaning of such chronicles, you can read more information on Genealogy.net or the article on Browse Press release. A good reason to preserve and promote a piece of local history.
