Save the stadium”: fans collect donations against noise emissions!

The popular football bar “Stadion an der Schleißheimer Straße” in Munich is facing an uncertain future. In recent months, residents' complaints about noise have increased, leading to drastic action by the city. After a sound measurement, the district administration department (KVR) is threatening to take drastic measures: opening hours could be limited to 10 p.m., which would mean the end of this traditional pub. This facility has not only been a popular meeting place for football fans for almost 20 years, but is also known for broadcasting exciting games and passionate discussions among guests. tz reports.

The problem of noise is not new. The city noted that the permissible noise level was exceeded, which ultimately led to the intervention of the KVR. The operators, Holger Britzius and Michael Jachan, have not yet publicly commented on the allegations, but together with the guests they hope that the situation will take a positive turn. The operators and residents are currently in dialogue about possible solutions as the pub suffers from the pressure of impending closure. Meanwhile, the CSU city councilors have submitted a motion to the city council to advocate for the pub's preservation. Mercury informs.

Fundraiser to save the pub

A bright spot in this tense situation are the dedicated football fans who have launched a crowdfunding campaign to save the pub. The Munich HSV fans have started a fundraising campaign under the motto “Save the stadium on Schleißheimer Straße”. The amount required for sound insulation to address the noise problem is 35,000 euros. Support is expected not only from HSV supporters, but also from fans of other football clubs, which shows the great solidarity in the Munich football community.

By July 4, 2025, over 27,466 euros of the required 35,000 euros had already been collected. The operators of the pub are enthusiastic about the high willingness to donate and the solidarity that this campaign creates. It is remarkable how the people of Munich come together in such a situation and fight for a common value that their pub represents. As tz reports, it is unimaginable for many that this cultural heart of the city could be lost.

A look at the future

One thing is clear: the situation around the “stadium” is an example of the fine line between the needs of the residents and the requirements of the sports business. The Sports Facilities Noise Protection Ordinance is actually intended to create a balance, but the dialogue between those affected and the operators often falls by the wayside. The operators and business owners are now hoping for a solution that will suit both guests and residents. The road to an agreement between the parties is still long, but the strong support in the community gives hope for a positive development. Whether the pub can be saved will become clear in the coming months. After the commitment of the fans, one can only hope that the “stadium” will continue to exist as a place of enthusiasm, exchange and community.
