CSD 2025 in Munich: traffic chaos and party mood on June 28th!
On June 28, 2025, Munich will be the venue for Christopher Street Day (CSD), an important event for the LGBTQIA+ community. The parade begins at 12:00 p.m. at Mariahilfplatz and runs along a varied route that includes some of the city's most famous streets and squares. The path leads from Ohlmüllerstrasse to Ludwigstrasse, passing various highlights such as Stachus and Maximiliansplatz. The route, which also provides for the separation of running groups and vehicles at Karlinenplatz, not only brings joy, but also traffic disruptions, which have already been announced by the Bavarian Central Office for Traffic Management.
As news.de reports, the parade will be from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. accompanied by partial closures of the traffic area. The Oskar-von-Miller-Ring and the surrounding areas will be particularly affected. It is recommended to pay attention to the signposted traffic routes, follow the traffic police's instructions and, if possible, use public transport or park & ride offers.
CSD highlights and events
However, the CSD offers much more than just the parade. This year we can expect a colorful supporting program that celebrates the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ culture in Munich. According to muenchen.de, a community stage on Kaufingerstraße will provide musical highlights and lots of shows. Artists from the queer club, poetry and drag scenes will perform at Wittelsbacherplatz, and new is the “FetischArea” in front of the Feldherrnhalle, which will offer its own stage, information stands and even a beer garden. Visitors can also look forward to a food court on Ludwigstrasse, which will offer a variety of culinary delicacies.
For younger visitors, there is a special Rainbow Family Area at Frauenplatz, where children can have fun with a bouncy castle and a Lego play stand. Information stands will also be set up on Kaufingerstrasse, Dienerstrasse, Residenzstrasse, Theatinerstrasse and Perusastrasse to provide important information on the LGBTQIA+ topic.
Pride weeks and exhibitions
The celebrations surrounding the CSD are part of the overall Pride Weeks, which begin on June 12, 2025. The events are diverse and range from exhibitions such as “PINK MATTERS” to exciting film screenings to workshops and readings. You can take a look at the history of LGBTQIA+ seniors at the photography and art exhibition “WITH YOUR TRACES” at the gay-queer center Sub or experience the “Time to shine” show at the Milla Club, which combines drag, comedy and music. The full list of all events can be found on the [CSD Munich] website (https://www.csdmuenchen.de/de/prideweeks-2025/alle-veranstaltungen.html).
The anticipation for the CSD 2025 is already noticeable because it represents an important platform for visibility and acceptance. With the combination of exuberant celebrations and serious topics, the organizers are sending a strong signal in the Bavarian capital. To all Munich residents: Save the date and be part of this unique celebration of diversity!
