Tragedy in East Munich: Child dies after serious traffic accident

A tragic traffic accident caused great consternation in Munich on November 10, 2025. At around 3:30 p.m. two vehicles collided at the intersection of Kreillerstrasse and St.-Veit-Strasse, resulting in serious injuries. The vehicles affected were a Skoda, driven by a 37-year-old woman from the Munich district, and a BMW driven by a 60-year-old from Munich. While the Skoda wanted to turn left, the BMW crossed the intersection straight ahead.

Both vehicles were badly damaged in the collision, resulting in a total loss. The passenger in the BMW, a 30-year-old woman, and the two four-year-old children in the Skoda also suffered injuries. Tragically, one of the children later died in hospital due to the injuries sustained. The Munich traffic police have now started an investigation into the exact cause of the accident and the accident took around three hours, which led to significant traffic delays. Passers-by and residents are shocked by the incident, which not only shocks the affected families but the entire community.

Road safety in focus

This incident once again raises questions about traffic safety at this intersection. The visibility provided by the green light of the evacuation arrow for the Skoda driver has certainly provided positive experiences in the past, but it is now clear that accidents can happen even under optimal conditions. The cleaning of the accident site and the necessary road safety measures are now being meticulously examined by the responsible authorities.

The results of the investigation will certainly also play a role in the future design of traffic routing at this particularly busy location. Residents have also already formulated suggestions to increase safety for pedestrians and vehicles.

Compassion and sadness

The community stands together in this difficult time. The grief over the loss of the child is overwhelming and you can see how much people care about their neighbors. The city administration has already offered support to the affected families; a helpful sign in times of grief.

This tragedy reminds us all of the importance of staying alert and safe on the road. The Munich traffic police are calling on all road users to be particularly careful on their next journey and to always keep everyone's safety in mind.

Hopefully we will be spared such terrible events in the future. Let's think about the enthusiasm and joy in this city and especially about the safety of our children.
